Get fired up about Sunday
School! [Pictures
of the September 12, 2004 Kick-Off Picnic]
Well "Construction" is definitely under way! (In
more ways than one!) The Christian Education Committee met Saturday, July 28th and had a
workday. We cleaned out the rooms designated for our Sunday School classrooms. We also
cleaned out the storage closets in the Parish Hall. This week the Nursery is being
repainted from top to bottom. The committee also went through and removed toys from the
nursery that were broken and old. We also removed toys that were inappropriate for nursery
age children (birth - 3 years of age). With a full Sunday School program in place for
fall, all children three and up should attend Chapel or Church. There is also a plan to
purchase more up to date toys and nursery equipment. A middle school room will also be
repainted. We are very excited about all our progress.
Thanks again for your support,
The Christian Education Committee

| Inquirer's Class / Confirmation Class |
Designed to prepare a youth or an
adult to be confirmed, received or reaffirmed in their faith within the
Episcopal Church, the class covers a wide variety of topics including
creeds, the prayer book, and Holy Scriptures.
In order to prepare for the
Bishop’s Visit, there will be a total of eight class meetings, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Please call the office if you are interested in attending. (349-3511) Special
classes will be arranged with college students who will be unable to attend these meetings. It would be
helpful to bring a Bible, a small notebook, a hi-liter, and a pen or pencil to
each session.
I am aware some of us may not
know what the terms “confirmation,” “reception” and “reaffirmation”
mean.
Confirmation is the time in a
person’s life where he/she stands
before God, the church and the Bishop and proclaims his/her belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
For many youth and young adults, they are accepting the vows taken for them by their parents and godparents
at their baptism as infants.
Reception is the process by
which a person of another Christian denomination is received as a full
member of the Episcopal Church. The person has already proclaimed that Jesus is Lord and Savior in
another Christian denomination.
Reaffirmation is the opportunity
for someone who has committed his/her life to Christ to publicly reaffirm beliefs and vows. Many
parents and sponsors of confirmands take the opportunity to renew these vows with the confirmand
they have sponsored.

| Bible Study |
In addition to Adult Sunday
School, we are also offering an Adult Bible Study. The classes will be offered on Tuesdays
beginning September 11, 2001. The
class will
be at 12:00 during the lunch hour. Bring a sandwich and a cool drink if you like. We will
meet in the Vestry Room. The class will end promptly at 12:55.
The study for the fall will be the Gospel according to St.
Luke.
The spring class will be on the Book of Acts.
