Not to be outdone by the St. Thomas’ youth, several of our more senior members participated in the St. Thomas’ Habitat day. This was done Saturday July 12. We got to put in the sub flooring and floor joist for the Habitat house being constructed at 225 Carter Street in Reidsville. Needless to say, it was a spiritual as well as learning experience. Much patience was demonstrated by those more experienced in the construction field. St. Thomas is blessed to have the expertise and volunteers to serve the community in this Christian endeavor.
Those who participated were Lee and Sarah Cobb, Tom Balsley, Chuck Rhodes, Bob Lee Watt, Bill Sutton, Marsha York, and our leader Kris Rogers. Tom Balsley noted that the only houses standing after Katrina were the Habitat houses. These houses have a lot of love and nails that go into them. We were so inspired that we understand that Kris may teach a Sunday school class this fall, Construction 101.
